AP CM Asks Students To Raise Amaravati Funds



The Andhra Pradesh government under the leadership of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to involve about 70 lakh students and three lakh teachers in the construction of the capital city.

It has reportedly instructed all district educational officers of the state to collect Rs 10 each from all students and teachers in about 64,000 educational institutions spreading across the state.

The said move has been aimed to contribute the funds towards Amaravati project and the collected  money will go towards chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu's pet 'My Capital, My Amaravati, My Brick' programme.

AP government has been raising money by selling each Brick at Rs 10 by means of online portal of the state government.

On the other hand, child rights activists have come down heavily on the state government alleging that it is against the spirit of the Right to Education Act".

 The Balala Hakkula Sangham also opposed the move and asked the government to withdraw the circular as it violates the basic rights of students.

AP State HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, while trying to defend the government said that the donation is purely voluntary and no force will be used on the students to pay the money.
