Suresh Raina hammers century in Ranji encounter

Kanpur: In the Group B Ranji Trophy cricket match being played at Kanpur on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh declared their second innings on 273 for five.

The state has gained complete control against Tamil Nadu on Day 3 as skipper Suresh Raina has shined smashing an unbeaten 145.



The left-hander Suresh Raina scored his 14th first-class century in which he hit 9 fours and 6 sixes facing 138 balls.

Along with opener Almas Shaukat (75), Raina made a 138-run second-wicket partnership.

Earlier the visitors were bundled out for 231.Tamil Nadu, keeping their eyes on 391 runs to win, they were 5 for no loss at stumps with skipper Abhinav Mukund (3 batting) and Baba Aparajith (0 batting) at the Green Park.

UP pacer Praveen Kumar with a four-wicket haul, medium-pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar and left-arm spinner Suarabh Kumar bagging two wickets each are the highlights of the match.

Score and result at the end of the day - Uttar Pradesh 348 and 273/5 declared (Suresh Raina 145 not out, Almas Shaukat 75), Tamil Nadu 231 and 5/0 in 8 overs .
