Seshachalam encounter case speeded up as SIT begins probe
The Seshachalam encounter case has become the subject of dispute between the Andhra Pradesh government and Tamil Nadu government.
Mr Ravishankar ,Senior IPS officer along with an eight-member team collected all the relevant informations and documents related with the April 7 incident of encounter.
The IPS officer has collected the key documents from the Tirupati Urban Police stating that they will gear up for investigation.
Muniyammal,wife of one of the deceased on April 14, has filed a complaint in the Chandragiri police station under Tirupati Urban Police limits.
An FIR was filed under section 302 (murder) and section 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) against unknown task force personnel.
Seeing the complicated nature of Seshachalam encounter case, Andhra Pradesh government has been asked by Hyderabad High Court to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and begin probe and complete the same within 60 days.
The court has also directed the Chandragiri police station and its investigation officer to hand over the case files to the SIT.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT), who has taken the case seriously has held an important maiden meeting on Wednesday in Tirupati.
Interacting with media, Ravishankar Ayyanar said the SIT will be carrying out probe in a transparent manner. He said that as part of the investigation, the SIT will be questioning the employees in the task force, revenue and forest departments.
On Friday, SIT has visited the Seshachalam encounter site and begun inspecting the site.
It is to be mentioned that Seshachalam encounter incident witnessed killing of 20 woodcutters from Tamil Nadu . The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force has allegedly fired on them on April 7 in Chittoor District.
