Ex Union Minister Sai Pratap joins TDP
Former Union Minister A Sai Pratap of Manmohan Singh's cabinet has joined the ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.
Backbone of the Kapu community in the Reddy-dominated Cuddapah district, Sai Pratap donned the yellow upper cloth of the TDP.
Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu has formally welcomed and admitted him into his party fold.
He said that he would strengthen the TDP in Cuddapah under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu.
Sai Pratap, a senior Congress leader was nominated for a member of Parliament(MP) for six terms.
He belonged from Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency in Kadapa district.
Sai Pratap was the Union Minister of State for Steel in the UPA 2 government .
It is to be mentioned here that he quit the Congress in 2014 after the bifurcation issue of AP.
It is said that Sai Pratap was a close friend of former Chief Minister of united Andhra Pradesh Y S Rajasekhara Reddy .
