Lok Sabha passes Aadhaar bill
A unique identity to residents has been established as the Lok Sabha on Friday passed the Aadhaar bill.
As per the Bill, subsidies and services directly reach the beneficiaries in entirety.
After a brief debate in the Lok Sabha, the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Bill, 2016, was passed by a voice vote.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has assured the members of the house that the Bill and its details will be used in protecting the identity of the individual and said that the card will not be misused under any circumstances.
The unique identity numbers, called Aadhaar will be used for getting the targeted services, when the Bill will be enacted to the legal segment.
The card will be issued to those persons, who have stayed in India for 182 days in the year preceding the date of application.
