Baroda to have first Railway University

The first Railway University in India is going to be set up at Vadodara (Baroda) shortly. Pratap Vilas Palace, the premises of the erstwhile Maharaja of Baroda, is being acquired for the purpose of setting up the university, pending acquisition of suitable land.

Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha,  who was making all arrangements for starting the university, told newsmen on Monday that the State government had agreed to facilitate the setting up of the university.

The Railway University would be called the National Academy of Indian Railways, which would be a deemed university. It would provide for MBA, rilway Diploma for M.Tech degree holders and B Tech Degree in Railway Operaions.

The Minister is on a 2-day tour of Gujarat.
