Guntur district farmers lock up CRDA office

The landpooling issue in AP Capital region is still under scanner as the farmers of some villages are confused related with the compensation process announced by the state government.

The farmers of Neerukonda in Mangalagiri mandal in Guntur district locked up the local Capital Regional Development Authority office after sending the employees out on Tuesday in protest against the non-payment of cheques to them as compensation for their lands given for pooling.

The farmers alleged that while there was non-payment on one side, they feared that underhand dealings were already on to prevent a fair compensation.

The farmers spoke out against the dealings of the official machinery.

The farmers said the State government appeared indifferent to their pleas for fair compensation for their lands.

Following locking up of the office, there was some tension at Neerukonda.

They appealed to the top officials to take up their pleas seriously.

The farmers of the area have been among the best producing three crops a year, apart from raising commercial crops.

All their flowers have gone  with the siting of the capital in the region despite knowing the land value.

There are also charges that land sharks are sitting pretty on the lands to make a fast buck, throwing capital regional development to the winds.
