Rohith was a Dalit: SC, SC Panel chief Punia
Rajya Sabha MP and chief of SC, ST Panel, Punia asserted that UoH scholar Rohith Vemula, who committed suicide two weeks ago, was a Dalit.
He said that Rohith and his siblings were brought up by a single mother, who is a Dalit and they have certificates to prove it.
His father is nowhere in the picture in their upbringing, he observed.
Responding to questions, he thanked Rahul Gandhi for supporting the agitating students.
