Rajiv Gandhi Assassin Moves HC Again





Nalini Sriharan, one of the prime accused of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination case, has been undergoing imprisonment in the Special Prison for women in Vellore.

 She has again moved the Madras HC seeking a direction to Tamil Nadu government to consider her representation for premature release.

She sought a direction from the court to decide on her representation.

It is to be mentioned here that Nalini was sentenced to death by the trial court in the case on January 28, 1998.

Her sentence was commuted to life term by the Tamil Nadu Governor on April 24, 2000.

Other seven convicts are Robert Pious, V Sriharan, Santhan, Jaya Kumar, Arivu, Ravichandran.

Santhan, Murugan and Arivu are presently in the Central Prison, Vellore, and they are in jail since 1991.

The other four are also servng life term for their role in Rajiv Gandhi's assassination on May 21, 1991 in Sriperumbudur.


It is to be mentioned here that Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991 in Sriperumbudur.
