TS speeds up process to form 14 new districts

Hyderabad, Dec 5: In a bid to speed up the process of formation of 14 new districts in the state, the principal secretary (Revenue) BR Meena of Telangana is said to have issued a notification announcing the introduction of Telangana District Formation Act.

This Act is on the same lines of the Andhra Pradesh District Formation Act of 1973.

The 14 new districts are expected to come into existance from March 1, 2016 after after receiving objections and suggestions from people and political parties concerned in February 2016.

The government is said to have formed a special committee with the chief secretary Rajiv Sharma as its chairman in September.

Meanwhile, Telangana's Chief Commissioner of Land Administration Raymond Peter had already submitted a report on the 24 districts in the state including the proposed 14 new districts to the chief secretary.

The CS is yet to submit the report to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
