Bullet Rail between Mumbai and Ahmedabad with Japan's help 




As part of bi-lateral ties between India and Japan, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two countries in key areas of defence and nuclear energy as well as building of first bullet train network between Mumbai-Ahmedabad.

 Japanese loan of $12 billion on very easy terms is being provided in this regard.

Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar said the two countries have come forward to set up the high speed rail corridor between Mumbai-Ahmedabad  with the help of Shinkansen or Japanese high-speed rail technology.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe have signed the pact in this regard while finalising the same at the annual summit talks in Delhi.

The Mumbai- Ahmedabad railway at the speed of 320 kph is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities from around eight hours to roughly two.

It has been reported that construction is supposed to begin in 2017 and likely to complete by 2023.
