India's first transgender sub inspector to take charge in Chennai
Preethika, a transgender girl, is posted as sub inspector in Chennai.
She is the first transgender SI in India.
She had to approach the Chennai High Court to get her posting, as the recruitment board refused to select her.
Now, following the court orders, the recruitment board has created a third category for transgenders.
Hailing from Salem in Tamil Nadu, Preethika underwent a gender change operation before she got her dream job.
