BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya passes away



BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya has passed away on Sunday evening at KM Birla Hospital while undergoing treatment in Kolkata.

He was brought to Hospital on Thursday following chest pain and was performed angioplasty on him but it could not save his life.


It is to be mentioned here that Jagmohan Dalmiya had been offering his services to BCCI since 1979 and held key positions including in ICC.

Date of birth: May 30, 1940

Birthplace: Calcutta (now Kolkata), India

1983: Becomes the BCCI treasurer (the year India won the 50-over Cricket World Cup)

1997: Unanimously elected president of the International Cricket Council (ICC)

2000: Gives up the ICC chairman's post

2001: Becomes the BCCI president

2005: Finishes term as the BCCI chief.

2006: Expelled from the BCCI over allegations of misappropriation of funds related to hosting the 1996 World Cup

2006: Wins Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) election to become CAB chief.

2007: Resigns as CAB chief

2013: Appointed interim president of the BCCI

2015: Returns as the BCCI president after a 10-year gap

2015: Dies on September 20
