Amitabh Bachchan as Khadi brand ambassador
New Delhi/Hyderabad, August 9: Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan is the new brand ambassador of Khadi.
Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) CEO Arun Kumar said in a statement today. He said Amitabh has agreed to be the brand ambassador of Khadi 'pro bono'.
Khadi sales in the country have increased since one year. The sales on the rise since Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for its greater use last year and now with Amitabh as the ambassador, the CEO hoped for a greater rise.
KVIC launched a new range of khadi denim products like jeans, T-shirts, jackets in June to attract youth. Now they are planning to launch a full trouser series.
Along with increasing varieties, they are also increasing outlets through franchisee model and will launch e-commerce portal.
