Telugu actors, politicians attend 20th TANA convention in US
Hyderabad, July 5: A galaxy of politicians and Telugu film actors participated in the 20th convention of Telugu Association of North America (TANA) being held in Detroit, USA.
Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Supreme Court Judge NV Ramana, noted litterateur and former MP Yarlagadda Lakshmiprasad, AP Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, MLAs and cine actors Venkatesh, Srikanth, Allari Naresh were among those who participated in the celebrations.
A special meeting was conducted to discuss about the agrarian crisis in Telugu states and it was presided by Venkaiah Naidu. He said that government will soon distribute soil health cards to all farmers. He observed that crop productivity in India is 50 per cent less than that of developed countries and attributed it to lack of awareness among farmers. He said that government launched Kisan Television channel for the welfare of farmers.
Venkaiah Naidu said that government raised crop loss compensation to Rs 4 lakh and took up renovation of four fertilizer companies with an expenditure of Rs 50,000 crore.
Cine actor Venkatesh expressed happiness for participating in the event. He exhorted the youth to aim high in life.
TANA president Mohan Nannapaneni, Nadendla Gangadhar, Ramesh Peddeti and others supervised the arrangements.
