DMK says Stalin humiliated by being seated in 16th row at Jayalalithaa's swearing-in
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday regretted seating Stalin, former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's son, in the 16th row at the swearing-in of her ministry on Monday.
Understanding the anxiety of the father, Jayalalithaa explained that Stalin's attending the swearing-in was a surprise. Had the protocol people had any inkling of the DMK leader's coming, they would have found a seat for Stalin in the front row.
She further said there was no intention to invite a leader of the DMK opposition and insulting him. The lack of information about the arrival of Stalin had caused all the confusion.
At the same time, she said it would be vain to create a controversy out of the unfortunate incident.
While the papers carried that it was the tenth row in which Stalin was seated at the ceremony, it is now stated that he was in fact seated in the 16th row.
The fact is Amma may not have been aware of the incident in her own happiness, and the party leaders may have done it on purpose.
