AIIMS at Mangalagiri to cost Rs 1,800 crore

The proposed  All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has been coming up at Mangalagiri in Guntur district involving an expenditure of Rs. 1800 crore.

Calling of Tender process meant for construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has begun at temple town Mangalgiri in Guntur.

In this regard, Government has handed over the plans to Architecture department related with its design and model.

Central government has offered Rs 1800 Crore towards the construction of AIIMS health centre.

It is said that the entire cost of the construction of AIIMS will be borne by the Union government and the state government on its part will only provide land, power and water.

It is learnt that the Mangalagiri AIIMS will be smaller than Government General Hospital at Guntur.

The main aim of AIIMS is to  bring down Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).

Apart from super speciality hospital with reasonable number of bed strength, it will have medical seats apart from nursing and para medical courses.

Research wing and Public health department will be part of AIIMS.

In Mangalgiri, from Goutham Buddha road to Sanatorium , the construction of national highway is mooted.
