Supreme Court stays criminal proceedings against MS Dhoni
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni gets much relief as the Supreme Court has stayed all criminal proceedings against him related with Lord Vishnu magazine cover case.
The interim relief has come to light after a court in Anantapur in the state of Andhra Pradesh, had issued a non-bailable warrant against the cricketer.
Social activist Jayakumar Hiremath had filed the case against the cricketer last year.
The case was registered against him under section 295 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
A non-bailable warrant was earlier issued against Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a case of hurting religious sentiments, was withdrawn by a local court in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh
The non-bailable warrant was issued against Dhoni for non-appearance before the court on January 7
Indian One-Day International skipper Dhoni has earlier sought the transfer of the case against him from Anantapur to Bengaluru.
Accordingly the case was heard and the Karnataka High Court refused to quash the case, prompting Dhoni to file an appeal in the apex court.
MS Dhoni is currently touring in Australia in a five ODI and three T20 series against the host from January 12th to January 31
