MS Dhoni gets relief from Supreme Court over portrayal as god

Hyderabad, Sept 14: The Supreme Court of India bench today stayed criminal proceedings against Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni was accused of outraging the religious sentiments after a visual depiction of him as Lord Vishnu was published in the Business Today magazine.

The Bench, led by Justice PC Ghose, is said to have issued notice to the petitioner, who had filed a complaint against Dhoni for committing the offence under Section 295A.

In the past, the Karnataka High Court is said to have refused to provide any relief to Dhoni, who had then moved the Supreme Court challenging the HC’s order that declined to hear the circketer under Section 482 of the CrPC.
