Gannavaram gateway to Amaravati

Vijayawada, July 31: Gannavaram, within the limits of CRDA has been chosen as the gateway for Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati.

A grand entrance with modern architectural skills will be set up in front of the Gannavaram airport and a six-lane highway from here to Ibrahimpatnam will be constructed from the entrance.

The marking works haven't started yet. The AP government is considering to construct the gateway in front of the airport, either beside the Veterinary College located in front of the airport or by shifting the college to another place.

The six-lane will be linked with icon bridge on Krishna River, which extends up to the seed capital. From the tail end of the icon bridge, the six-lane highway will be extended till Chinna Kakani near Guntur.

Survey works of this road are yet to commence. AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu already declared to work three days in a week by setting up a temporary capital near Amaravati.

For this purpose, about 20,000 employees were being shifted from Hyderabad to this place.
