AP CID issues notice to T News

Hyderabad, June 20: AP CID (Crime Investigation Department) police issued notice to T News channel for telecasting the audio tapes featuring the purported conversation between Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and TRS nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson on June 7.

A team headed by CID ACP Ramana reached the channel office late on Friday night and handed over the notice to T News CEO. The notice was issued under section 19, Cable TV Network Regulation Act 1995. The police mentioned that the tapes may disrupt communal harmony and create animosities between people of the two Telugu states.

The CID has given three-days time to T News to file a reply as to why action should not be initiated against them for telecasting the tapes.

The channel management has flayed the AP police for issuing notices without informing their counterparts in Telangana. The management informed that the issue would be brought to the notice of the Prime Minister, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister and Press Council of India.
